Summer Piece

Summer Wrap-Up
12"x16"
$700
Hawaii was really nice, but I'm so glad to be back in New England. Late summer and early fall are my favorite seasons here, and it would be a shame to miss them! The piece shown here is meant to depict the very last of summer warmth just before the crisp air of fall sets in. I plan on visiting Franconia Notch in NH soon, where I hope to get some good references for a fall-themed piece.

Holly, I like this self portrait, composition and colors you chose. It really does feel like you are contemplating the end of summer. Thank goodness for these warm fall days because I am missing summer already!

Thank you, Kendra! I agree - summer weather in New England is fantastic; it goes by too quickly. I think that the crisp weather of fall can be refreshing though. (Winter, on the other hand, while beautiful at first, gets really tiresome by about January!)

Holly, I really feel a sense of contemplation and dreaminess in this self portrait. I love how when you have an idea you wish to portray, you aren't afraid to use your own image, whether it be by choice or lack or another model. It works!

Thank you, Kathy. I plan on continuing to use my own image because I have control over my own expression and pose. Sometimes I ask my husband to take the photos, directing him as far as composition and angle, and sometimes I set the camera timer and take the photos myself.
